Algorithm [algorithm2.5.exe]2 is a fully visual RAD system but it is not a strict programming language. It aims to help anyone create programs without any programming knowledge. Algorithm - 8.43MB2 is a development environment where the programmer does not (and may not) write a single line of code, but it programs by setting the behaviours of objects and controls. Algorithm 2.52 has as really good RAD environment and a very good and complete help made by an online manual, video tutorials and reference guide. The language offers a rich set of tools, objects and controls with which the user may create a variety of applications, work with file-system, screen, system registry, keyboard and mouse or handle multimedia and graphics. Algorithm2 comes in two versions: a freeware version and a pay version. The difference between them is that the free version may create stand alone EXEs only through a online builder. The user uploads - for free - its application to Algorithm2 web site' s and the online builder outputs a stand alone EXE after a 90 seconds delay. The pay version has a built in compiler. The resulting EXE has an overhead of about 950Kb. Algorithm2 needs Microsoft Framework 2. 0 to work. Unfortunately the well built RAD interface responds quite slowly to the user' s input and this, in my opinion, affects the fun of programming. As Algorithm2 does not offer the programmer any classic programming structure it may not be considered a typical programming language nor a Basic-like language, but due to the fact that Algorithm2 may export the sources to VisualBasic. NET projects - so that the program can be finished in a real programming language - I think it could be interesting to take a look at it.
