Krakout: ZX Spectrum 1.0 Bat Slow Down: Slows The Bal...

The ZX Spectrum is an 8-bit personal home computer released in the UK in 1982 by Sinclair Research Ltd, which sold in excess of 5 million units worldwide. More than 10, games were released for the ZX Spectrum.

Krakout for the ZX Spectrum (one of fewer than 200 ZX Spectrum games being re-released as a Windows 8 app) is one of THE defining games of the 1980s.

The Krakout: ZX Spectrum by Elite Systems Ltd app is the near-100% original ZX Spectrum game, as developed by Andy Green and Rob Toone and published by Gremlin in 1987 and is brought to you - as an officially licenced product - utilizing our ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection HD technology.

About Krakout: Krakout is arcade/puzzle game. One of the wave of enhanced Breakout variants to emerge in the wake of Arkanoid, its key distinctions are that game play is horizontal in layout, and that it allows the player to select the acceleration characteristics of the bat before playing. It was written by Andy Green and Rob Toone. The music was composed by Ben Daglish.

Game-play Krakout: Welcome to the ultimate challenge! A two way test of skill and nerve - can you out manoeuvre the awesome ogre and blast a path through the myriad of colourful bricks? Are your reflexes adept enough to retrieve the speeding missile, deflected from its block shattering journey or regurgitated contemptuously from the ogre' s mouth? Some bricks when hit will roll over. These are bonuses. The ball must hit this brick to receive the bonus.

BONUSES ARE

G Glue: The Ball sticks to the bat.
B Bomb: There is a massive explosion destroying adjacent blocks.
S Shield: Makes a barrier appear behind you.
M Missile: Gives you one missile to fire.
Bat Slow down: Slows the ball down slightly.
x2 Times two: Doubles scoring.
D Double bat: Gives you another bat in front of your present bat. This gives some protection
against Aliens.
X Extra man: Gives you an extra live.
E Expand: Makes your bat expand.

You will enter the options page when starting the game. You may also enter the options page after each screen by pressing the space bar during a screen.

The options page is used to adjust your controls.
