LEONARDI is a model-driven framework that automatically produces GUIs

LEONARDI is a model-driven framework for developing GUIs. Its primary goal is to simplify the implementation of GUI oriented applications. Its innovative approach provides an off-the-shelf solution that automates the production of UIs from design to execution and allows for a clear separation between business and technological aspects. LEONARDI provides substantial productivity gains.

This MDA-like approach is a particularly good fit for RAD / prototyping, but also addresses the needs of big-scale projects. Applications can be deployed as rich clients (SWT, Swing...), Eclipse plugins or thin, Ajax-based clients. This is just a matter of configuration.

LEONARDI relies on 2 types of components: (1) Connectors, that are in charge of connecting the application to the different data sources and (2) Displays, that are used based on the target ddeployment configuration. The application rules and logic are based on template actions that are available in the framework, which can be specialized at will to reflect core business functionalities.

LEONARDI comes in 4 bundles:

- LEONARDI FREE : The free version of LEONARDI that meets the requirement of projects of all sizes, provided they’re based on open source technologies

- LEONARDI AGILE : This bundle specifically targets short-term, RAD (Rapid Application Development) or xP (eXtreme Programming) type projects, as well as prototyping.

- LEONARDI EVOLUTION : This bundle specifically targets legacy applications, with strong business oriented characteristics, that need technological migration (typically, software packages or business oriented legacy applications).

- LEONARDI FACTORY : This is the most complete LEONARDI bundle. It addresses the needs of big-scale projects, where functional and technical issues are more complex.
