TVU Broadcast Platform - How It Works
TVU has developed a new broadcast TV platform to enable the efficient transmission of live television signals over the public Internet. The key components of the TVU Broadcast Platform include :
* TVUBroadcast – device or server application that transmits input video to unlimited number of viewers.
* TVUPlayer – end-user application or web plug-in to enable viewing of video content from multiple sites and consumer devices.
* P2P Network – global network of active users that watch video and contribute bandwidth to enable efficient viewing of live video.
* TVUControl Center – suite of web services used to manage and monitor channel quality in real-time, control access, enable advertising and subscriptions, and provide secure content delivery (3DES encryption).
Technology
At the core of this platform is TVU`s patent-pending Real-time Packet Replication (RPR) technology. RPR allows broadcasters to achieve massive reach and significantly lower broadcast costs over traditional streaming and Content Delivery Network (CDN) technologies. RPR enables the delivery of a live TV signal, of up to HD quality, to millions of TV viewers around the globe using a single TVU broadcast device and a single broadband wireline or wireless connection (e.g. ADSL/cable/3G). TVU has also developed a personalized advertising engine that enables seamless in-stream advertising that can be targeted to viewers based on their demographic and geographic profile. TVU`s technology enables ingest of existing cue-tones to empower broadcasters to effectively monetize their existing linear channels on the Internet, without having to recondition the signal.
Rapid Deployment
TVU offers turn-key solutions that make deployment extremely easy. Our broadcast device is a Plug-and-Play appliance that takes in a live digital or analog signal (SDI, S-Video, component, composite) with the output being the Internet. It is installed at your broadcast facility and works with your existing TV automation system and playout equipment. Once set up, it requires no maintenance and operates continuously 24/7.
