VShell 3. 9 Server from VanDyke Software Adds Support for FTPS on UNIX and Gives Network Administrators New Remote Configuration Options
Albuquerque, N. M. (November 13, 2012) - VanDyke Software® , a developer of multi-platform secure terminal emulation and file transfer software, today announced the official release of the VShell® 3. 9 server. The VShell server is a secure alternative to Telnet and FTP providing the strong encryption, robust authentication, and data integrity of Secure Shell. VShell 3. 9 extends support for FTPS to the UNIX platform, allowing secure file transfer using the FTP protocol with SSL/TLS encryption. VShell with FTPS can also be configured to support plain-text connections via FTP for those who may require legacy connectivity. This latest release also adds support for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.
VShell 3. 9 server introduces new configuration options, including the ability in the Windows version to change virtual root permissions from the VShellConfig command-line utility. New connection filters have also been added to the subconfiguration options.
" One very powerful aspect of VShell is its configurability - particularly the ability to set access permissions on a per-user, per-group basis, " said Jeff P. Van Dyke, President of VanDyke Software. " With VShell 3. 9 for Windows we' ve added this capability to the command-line. Network administrators can now remotely configure the user database, access control, and virtual root settings using VShellConfig. "
The VShell Secure Shell server replaces Telnet and FTP for secure network administration and end-user access on Windows and UNIX platforms. Precision control over privileges, the ability to fine-tune your Secure Shell environment, and a wide selection of strong authentication methods give you a flexible solution that grows with evolving business and security environment.
