Wikitup - 11.67MB, a newcomer to the Internet search scene, announced today the first release of its Windows software.
The international team that developed the product is inspired by multi-vertical search philosophy which postulates that in today' s Internet you only need a handful of data sources to get 90% of relevant information.
Wikitup 1.8.4 uses such sources to instantly bring definitions from across the Web, according to a keyword typed in by the user.
The project heavily relies on Wiki-based sources such as Wikipedia and Wiktionary to allow translations of terms to and from over 700 languages.
Youtube and other free video services are used to present relevant videos, while Picasa and Flickr are used for photos.
By using most comprehensive data sources and by combining different content types, Wikitup creates a wholistic search experience: the user quickly gets the most relevant results in a single desktop window.
