EMAIL BY PHONE AND PHONE ALERT FOR NEW EMAIL
Access email by any landline or cell phone. Use speech command to control your email; Get automatic phone alert call when certain specified email arrives. Best used when internet access is not available or driving. Released as open source project. The application is developed on Voicent gateway, a W3C standard based VoiceXML gateway software. Shareware edition of Voicent Gateway can be downloaded from Voicent web site. Works with any email server that supports SMTP, POP3, or IMAP, such as Gmail and Yahoo mail.
San Jose, CA - November 6, 2008. A new open source project EmailToPhone 1.0 is released. Source code and document can be downloaded from www.emailtophone.com.
With EmailToPhone, you can access your email by any landline or cell phone. You can listen, delete, and reply email using speech command. Email text is read by a Text-to-Speech engine over the phone.
You can also setup automatic phone alert when certain email arrives.
The project is written in Java Servlet using JavaMail. The application is also based on VoiceXML, a W3C standard for interactive telephone applications.
The deployment environment is Voicent Gateway. A free shareware edition of Voicent Gateway can be downloaded from Voicent web site.
End users can use the project without change. It can be set to access any email server that supports SMTP, POP3, or IMAP, such as Google Gmail and Yahoo Mail, for example. Developers are encouraged to take the 1.0 code to enhance it and contribute to the project.
