Kingfishers and Kookaburras Screensaver presents images from Richard Bowdler Sharpe`s ornithological book, Family of Kingfishers, published from 1868 to 1871. Only two-hundred copies of Famiy of Kingfishers were ever printed. It is extremely rare. John Gould supplied specimens for the work, and John G. Keulemans, the extraordinary Dutch wildlilfe painter and illustrator, drew the 140 kingfisher plates included in the book.

This screensaver contains 48 images from two of the most magnificent books of ornithological art produced in the 19th century : Daniel Elliot`s A Monograph of the Birds of Paradise (1873), and John Gould`s Monograph of the Birds of Paradise (1891-1898).
